As board members, we are committed to Protect, Proclaim, and Provide for the organization. By doing so, we uplift and sustain the mission of Mirror Image Arts to disrupt the pipeline to prison through Restorative Theatre™.

_Ensure strong fiduciary oversight and understanding.

_Evaluate the performance of the Executive Director through an annual review process.

_Assess own performance as the strategic governing body.

_Sign conflict-of-interest disclosure as well as disclose potential conflicts before meetings and actual conflicts during meetings.

_Follow the organization’s bylaws, policies, and board resolutions.

_Know MIA’s strategic plan, programs, and needs.

_Serve as a partner in developing and implementing MIA’s strategic plan.

_Share MIA within your personal networks.

_Ensure MIA’s commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities Mirror Image Arts serves.

_Observe a program or rehearsal annually.

_Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for MIA to advance its strategic plan.

_Identify and recruit qualified board members. Per by-laws, this number is limited to thirteen (3 youth; 10 adults).

_Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action (e.g., fundraising, advocacy, public policy, etc.) to fully achieve MIA’s strategic plan.

_Prepare for, attend, and participate in board meetings (monthly).

_Give a meaningful financial donation.
