Volunteers

Are you ready to become part of something bigger than yourself? Our volunteers are part of a community of champions contributing approximately $187.7 billion of service to impact the community we serve together. But you can't put a dollar amount on service. Giving Cohort - Starts April 4th, 2024

We are launching the first MIA Giving Cohort in April and invite you to join us. MIA Giving Cohorts are small groups of volunteers made up of people from all income levels who are passionate and aligned with the mission of Mirror Image Arts to disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline, create collective liberation for all, and are willing to support MIA through fundraising and community outreach. Through MIA Giving Cohorts, we are committed to sharing the work of MIA with our networks and fundraising to create budget security for the organization. A portion of funds raised by each cohort supports our apprenticeship program, creating a prison to employee pipeline.

How will MIA Giving Cohorts work?

Giving cohort volunteer members will learn how to fundraise, create their fundraising materials and strategy, and become part of a community of passionate volunteers committed to disrupting the school-to-prison pipeline and liberation for all through cooperative fundraising.

A diverse group of up to 20 individuals gathering 6 times (three in-person meetings and three online meetings) over the period of 3 months. Meetings are scheduled for Thursday Nights.

  • Through cohort sessions and training, the group develops a shared understanding of Mirror Image Arts' mission, work, and impact.

  • In addition to cohort sessions, each member will have two one-on-one trainings with MIA Staff.

  • Each person makes a financial gift — one that is meaningful to them.

  • Each person commits to fundraising from their friends, family, and community to support the fundraising goal of the cohort. The Mirror Image Arts staff will train you in community-centric and peer-to-peer fundraising, guiding and supporting you during your commitment.

  • Each member will have the opportunity to see our work up close through ensemble or onsite visits.
