Last week we were so happy to see so many supportive and creative people at our open house held at Curious Theatre in Denver. Attendees ate and learned about Mirror Image Arts before the presentation, and were treated with a simulated workshop. Guided by Patrick Elkins-Zeglarski the audience was first introduced to a brave young man who shared his incredibly insightful, heartbreaking and inspiring story of being bullied. The story, like so many seeping into our communities today, framed the urgency and importance of workshops like Mirror Image Art’s, “Your Voice Matters.”

The facilitator of the workshop began the simulation and Patrick interjected, explaining the structure and reasoning behind the processes. A seemingly simple play that occurs over several days in a middle school setting allows for incredible conversation and engagement. The actors lit the stage with honesty, sparking strong responses from the attendees.

The afternoon was closed with a panel discussion that included actors, directors, board members and Ms. Brittnee Merritt a Denver Public Schools Community Engagement Specialist with FACE (Family and Community Engagement).

We couldn’t be more pleased with the unveiling of our flagship workshop and the genuine support we received. Thank you.

Here we go!
